quartz crystal points - teaching student set of 10
$ 12.50
Quartz is identified by its hardness, non-metallic luster, translucency and faint horizontal striations on crystal faces. The striations may not appear on every face, and they range from faint to obvious, so a student will have to be observant. These are useful student specimens; each is transparent with a terminated end. Some are doubly terminated.
It’s interesting to see quartz points offered in 50 gram lots on the Internet. That sounds like a lot, but it’s just 1.7 ounces, so those crystal points are either very few or very small. One large natural science supplier of teaching material has 1” to 2” points in packs of 10 for $35.10. Or single 2"-3" crystals for $53.99 each.
These are from China with no locality data, but they are decent student specimens at a decent price. The size is variable, between 1 and 2 inches long.
