sand derived from heterogeneous glacial till at Bull Lake, Montana - set of two 2-ounce jars
$ 8.50
Sand formed from heterogeneous glacial till at Dorr Skeels Beach, Bull Lake, Montana. The till ranges in size from that of clay up to the size of Volkswagen-sized boulders. The beach is on a small peninsula that juts out into the lake. Clay and silt have been drawn off into the lake by the action of the water, and the rocks and boulders have been pushed back from the shore by ice, leaving the sand. An unusual collection of angular sand grains of diverse types. Dorr Skeels is about 1,250 miles south of the arctic circle. The sand was gathered up by the ice from numerous sources over that distance, with the grains showing tremendous variety.
